Rockville Maryland Dentist Dr Joe Kravitz Discusses Cavities

Over 90% of United States Has Been Damaged by Harmful Cavities

Have you ever been affected by one or more cavities? If the answer is yes, you’re not alone. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), cavities are one of the most common chronic diseases in both children and adults.

Do you brush 1-2 times per day? If you do, it still does not prevent cavities. What? How can that be so?

What are cavities?
Also known as decay, it is the destruction of tooth tissues, above and below the gum line. The disease has acidic destruction, which occurs within 7 minutes of eating and drinking. That’s it.

I published on this previously in 2010 in my national best selling book, Dirty Mouth. After treating over 20,000 patients over the last 20 years, I’ve seen a lot of unnecessary pain and suffering. Many dental diseases such as cavities are preventable. It’s simple. It’s easy.

Causes
There are over 700 species of bacteria (also called germs) that contribute to cavities. They grow at the rate of 20 billion per hour. The bacteria secrete a chemical called lactic acid that eats holes through your teeth. Also, a chemical called endotoxin is secreted that irritates your gums, face and body. As published in Dr. Kravitz’s book, Dirty Mouth, it takes only 7 minutes.

Prevention
Brushing your teeth twice a day DOES NOT prevent cavities. Taking all sugars out of your diet DOES NOT prevent cavities. Fluoride DOES NOT prevent all cavities. Sealants DO NOT prevent all cavities. Only understanding the 7 Minute Window prevents cavities. Developing successful habits as shown in the Dirty Mouth book helps to prevent cavities, systemic diseases and suffering.

Why are cavities dangerous to your mouth?
Cavities can cause your gums to shrink, bone loss, teeth to shift, open gaps between teeth, crooked teeth, loose teeth, pain, hot/cold sensitivity, bad breath, speech problems, mouth infections and tooth loss. The cavities can form around any natural tooth surface including: fillings, inlays, onlays, veneers, crowns bridges and root canals. Cavities are contagious between people with close contact such as sharing food, drink and kissing.

Why are cavities dangerous to your body?

  • Cavities can leak the dangerous bacteria through your bloodstream and lead to…
  • 75% increased chance of heart attack
  • 63% increased chance of pancreatic cancer
  • 50% increased chance of stroke
  • causes diabetes
  • causes respiratory diseases that affect breathing
  • causes loss of vision, toes, sinus problems, and feeling exhausted
  • causes beginning stages of Alzheimer’s disease and memory loss
