Listening to Dental Patients is Important to Have Success in Smile Makeovers and Dental Care

Many patients that I listen to have fears, uncertainty and worry related to going to the dentist. It’s real. It’s deep. My patients have had dental failures previously, negative interactions, judgment and ridicule.

We were given two ears and one mouth, so it is probably a good idea to listen more to our patients than they talk. Truly listen. Don’t interrupt.

When a patient presents to share their story, they hold a lot a emotion inside. There are tears, there is pain, there in cases may seemingly be hopelessness.

Allowing the patient to talk and express questions, allows for a reduction in anxiety.

They begin to relax.

They feel better.

They feel there is hope. That there is a observation of friendly, cooperative team members and other dental health care professionals, people that care about them. That it’s time for them to take care of themselves. The dental patient becomes enthusiastic about improving their smile, health and well being.

We discuss the dental patient’s goals, timing and budget. There is always a way to follow a path towards their oral health. The treatments for smile makeovers and other dental treatments can be accomplished quickly, beautifully and accurately. Continued observation and listening causes the patient’s body to secrete chemicals to make them feel better and heal faster relative to various treatments:
