Dr. Joseph Kravitz, DDS, MS from Rockville, Maryland, has performed hundreds of experiments relative to the safety of drinking water for his dental patients. Water is necessary to sustain nutrition and life. Water sources for you may include tap water, spring water, filtered water or bottled water.
Bottled water is portable for people on the go. It’s quick. It’s easy. It’s immediate. However, there is one big problem…
Bottled water intended for health may, in fact be causing disease. Yes…
Be causing disease!
It all comes down to pH, which is the acidity or basicity of a solution – such as water. The scientific levels of pH range from 1-14.
- 7.0 – the pH of water – is considered neutral.
- 7.0 is the balance point, the neutral point between the extremes of acidity and basicity..
- 1.0 is extremely acidic
- 14.0 is extremely basic
Neutral means that water is neither acidic nor basic. It does not contribute to an acidic environment (which germs love). This is precisely why water is the absolute best drink to consume. In fact, 70% of your body is water! Drinking water on a consistent basis keeps your whole system in balance. However, drinking acidic water with a pH of 3.0 can easily cause dangerous cavities. This can cause pain, swelling, bleeding and pain. There are bottled water that IS causing cavities and acid damage in people of the United States and abroad.
Anything with a pH lower than 7.0 is considered acidic. Anything with a pH higher than 7.0 is considered basic. Check out the pH scale below:
Remember that we alter the pH of our mouths every time we eat or drink, unless we drink water. So, you either create an environment for harmful germs to thrive or you don’t. Think. Think about the pH of the water you are drinking. It’s better to drink water either neutral or basic.
